Why an SUV in the capital
In Santo Domingo traffic, sitting higher gives you better visibility, and the extra room shows when there are four or five of you with luggage. For a couple staying in the city a compact is usually enough; an SUV pays off with family, luggage or longer trips.
We have compact 5-seat SUVs and large three-row SUVs for 7. Each vehicle page shows its capacity and deposit before you book.
Weekend trips from Santo Domingo
Samaná and Las Terrenas are about 2 to 2.5 hours away on the Autopista del Nordeste. Jarabacoa, in the mountains, about 2.5 hours on the Autopista Duarte. To the east, Juan Dolio and Bayahíbe are under 2 hours on the Autovía del Este.
All of those roads have tolls; the SUV carries a Paso Rápido tag and crossings are added up at the end. One important note: even in an SUV, the contract doesn't allow driving on unpaved roads, beaches or rivers. If the last stretch to a beach is dirt, leave the vehicle in the parking area.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have 7-seat SUVs?
Yes, large three-row SUVs. With all 7 seats in use the trunk gets smaller, so if 7 of you are traveling with big suitcases, message us and we'll help you choose.
Is the deposit higher for an SUV?
Yes, it depends on the category: large SUVs have a higher deposit than compacts. You see it before booking and it's released when you return the vehicle.
Can I take the SUV off-road?
No. Driving on unpaved roads, dunes, beaches or rivers is prohibited by the contract and voids the insurance coverage.
