Everything you need to know before starting your adventure.
Is insurance included in RentCar.do's rate?
Yes, complete transparency. All rates include Basic Insurance (TPL) and government taxes. Zero surprises at the counter.
Where do you deliver the vehicles?
We deliver at Las Américas Airport (SDQ), Punta Cana Airport (PUJ), Cibao Airport (STI) and to your hotel or Airbnb. In Puerto Plata (POP) and La Romana (LRM), delivery is arranged in advance on WhatsApp and may carry a transfer fee, which we confirm before you pay.
Are there hidden fees or excessive deposits?
No. We require a standard security deposit on a credit card, but it is automatically released when the vehicle is returned intact. Everything is 100% transparent.
What exactly does the rate I see on the website include?
Absolute transparency. Our rate includes rental days, basic liability insurance (TPL), and government taxes (ITBIS). What you see in the quoter is the real price you will pay. We do not believe in hidden fees or nasty surprises at the counter.
How much is the Security Deposit (Hold) and when is it released?
The deposit varies between $300 USD and $1,000 USD depending on the vehicle category and chosen insurance. This money is NOT charged, only 'frozen' on your card. Upon returning the vehicle intact, we release the hold immediately. Please note that your issuing bank may take 5 to 15 business days to reflect the funds.
Can I leave the deposit in Cash or with a Debit Card?
No. Due to strict security policies, the Security Deposit MUST be made with a physical Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) under the main driver's name. You can pay the rental cost with debit or cash, but the security hold requires credit.
What physical documents do I need at the time of delivery?
You must present 3 original documents: 1) Valid Passport or National ID. 2) Valid driver's license from your country of residence. 3) A physical Credit Card in your name.
How does the payment of Tolls (Paso Rápido) and Fines work?
Our entire fleet is equipped with the RD Vial 'Paso Rápido' electronic device so you don't have to use cash on highways. At the end of your rental, we will tally your crossings (or traffic camera fines, if any) and charge them to your registered card or deposit.
What happens if my flight is delayed, will I lose my vehicle?
Relax, your reservation is safe! If you provide us with your flight number when booking, our team will monitor your arrival in real-time. We will wait for you with your vehicle ready no matter what time of the night your plane lands.
Is there a grace period if I am late returning the car?
Yes, we understand that traffic can be unpredictable. We offer a 2-hour courtesy period over the time stipulated in your contract. If you exceed these 2 hours, the system will automatically bill an additional one (1) full day of rental and insurance.
What is the Fuel policy?
We deliver the vehicle with a documented fuel level (photo/video), and you must return it with the same level ('Same-to-Same'). If you return it with less, you will be charged for the missing amount plus an administrative fee for the refueling service.
What should I do in case of a minor crash or scratch?
By law in the Dominican Republic, it is MANDATORY to report it and obtain a Police Report from DIGESETT or Casa del Conductor within 24 hours. Without this legal document, the insurance will void coverage and you will be 100% responsible for repair costs, no matter how minor the damage.
Can I cross the border to Haiti or do 'Off-Road'?
STRICTLY PROHIBITED. None of our policies are valid outside the Dominican Republic. Crossing the border or driving on unpaved terrain (dunes, rivers) will immobilize the engine via satellite (GPS), void the contract, and proceed with the legal seizure of the vehicle.
